George Salisbury at the cash register in 1927. George grew up in rural Arizona and had to quit school in the 5th Grade because his father, a miner, died of the Black Lung. Being the oldest son, he had to support his mother and siblings. This made George very frugal and refused to go into debt for any reason. He would pay cash for all the property, and business expenses and that mindset helped him not only survive the Great Depression, but actually expand the business.
